Clinical Trials Initiative for Hospitals
Clinical Trials Initiative for Hospitals
In 2012, Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare launched a clinical trials initiative, for which the NCCHD was selected to participate in 2013. This initiative aims to develop the capacity of hospitals to conduct global-standard clinical trials, investigator-initiated trials for intractable diseases, and post-marketing clinical trials for the creation of innovative 'Made in Japan' pharmaceutical products and medical devices. As part of this project, the NCCHD aims to innovate pharmaceutical products and medical devices that will enhance the healthcare of mothers and children in Japan; to lead clinical trials conducted by the Pediatric Clinical Trials Network, and to build a support system for other clinical trials targeting mothers and children. In our efforts to achieve these goals we are currently conducting system development as well as staff education and training.
