From July 10 to 11, 2024, Dr. Hiromi Komiya (Director of the National Center for Women's Health Preparation Office), Dr. Naho Morisaki (Director of the Department of Social Medicine), and Dr. Keiko Matsubara (Chief of the Division of Diversity Research) visited the Office of Research on Women's Health (ORWH) and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) within the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United States. The visit aimed to gather information and exchange ideas for establishing the upcoming National Center for Women's Health (provisional name).
At ORWH, they received explanations from Dr. Janine Clayton, Dr. Victoria Shanmugan, Dr. Regine A. Douthard, Dr. Samia Noursi, Dr. Elizabeth Bar, and Dr. Chyren Hunter about ORWH's initiatives and organizational structure related to innovative research methods, data science practices, support for female scientists' career development, and the promotion of sex differences research. They also engaged in discussions.

At NICHD, they learned about clinical research projects conducted both intramurally and extramurally, with a particular focus on NICHD's research trends in adolescent bone health and ovarian tissue freezing. Through interactions with Dr. Alison Cernich, Dr. Catherine Gordon, Dr. Veronica Gomez-Lobo, Dr. Vesna Kutlesic, Dr. Jenelle Walker, and Dr. Candace Tingen, they deepened their understanding of NICHD's strategic plans and research funding allocation.

Based on the insights gained from this visit, we will proceed with formulating specific strategic plans for the establishment of the National Center for Women's Health (provisional name). Additionally, we will strengthen our collaboration with NIH and other medical and research institutions to promote further clinical and research efforts addressing women's health issues.
