Department of Clinical Epidemiology
Clinical epidemiology contributes to the advancement of clinical medicine through the application and evaluation of best evidence and practice in patient care for clinicians, as well as providing methodology for clinical research. Our department facilitates the work of the Center for Clinical Research and Development by conducting systematic reviews, hosting Cochrane Japan with the Department of Health Policy, and through health technology assessments and economic analyses of new clinical technologies. The Division of Promoting Evidence-based Medicine carries out work related to systematic reviews and their application into practice, while the Division of Health Technology Assessment provides technical support and conducts health economic analyses including cost-effective analyses and modelling. Our department also provides technical expertise in methodology for clinical research, and contributes to the center by maintaining a national registry of over 700 major chronic diseases affecting children. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you are interested in our work and/or collaborating with us.
