Recruiting and Training

The NCCHD recognizes the development of human resources as an important part of its mission to advance child health. We seek to be a leader in postgraduate education in the fields of child health and development, and constantly refine our curriculum to reflect new developments, cultivate talent in healthcare providers and nurture highly specialized professionals.

Practical training of students

Practical training is offered to student physicians, dentists, nurses, midwives, pharmacists, and technologists. Our program is open to all students who aspire to be a part of the NCCHD.

Training of physicians, nurses, and technicians

The NCCHD offers training and education to physicians, nurses and allied health professionals. Seminars and workshops given by globally renowned lecturers are conducted in our research institute and clinical research center, particularly in the Department of Education for Clinical Research, to develop the clinical research and writing skills of residents and fellows.
Only those who have passed the Japanese national medical examination are allowed to practice medicine in Japan. However, the NCCHD accepts applications from students visiting on electives, mentors trainees who may not have the aforementioned license, and trains them through demonstrations and lectures.

Our system of education for physicians

Rotating internships

The NCCHD is a collaborative training facility for the Tokyo Medical Center, Kanto Central Hospital, University of Tsukuba, and University of Tokushima. We aim to continue expanding our network of collaborations in the future.

Residents

The NCCHD is a leading hospital in Japan and provides high-quality, comprehensive training. Each year we accept a fixed number of 14 residents into our 3-year program on medical care in child health and development.

Fellows

The NCCHD offers 2- or 3-year programs to around 100 subspecialty fellows who have completed residency training. We also provide specified training for physicians to acquire and develop advanced skills in their area of specialization.
